Engagement Session Guide

A relaxed trial run with your photographer that also gives you images for save-the-dates and your guest book.

Bride and groom sunset portrait during engagement session

An engagement session is optional, but most of our couples say it was worth it — both for the photos and for getting comfortable in front of the camera before the wedding.

1
Schedule it 2–3 months before save-the-dates

This gives you finished images in time to use them for save-the-dates, invitations, or your wedding website.

2
Pick a location that means something to you

A favorite park, the spot you got engaged, or somewhere that reflects your style — downtown St. Pete, Vinoy Park, Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, and local beaches are popular Tampa Bay choices.

3
Coordinate outfits, don’t match them

Complementary colors and textures photograph better than identical outfits. Bring one casual and one dressier option.

4
Use it as a practice round

This is your chance to get used to being photographed together, so wedding-day portraits feel more natural.
